Amid the skyscraper-filled urban jungle of Bangkok, Thailand, Fren, who works in the HR department, endures the exhausting life of an ordinary office worker. Dealing with June’s repeated absences without notice, as well as hiring a new employee to fill a vacancy, are not easy tasks. The doctor advises Fren, who now carries a new life within her, not to let stress get to her and to keep her emotions under control. Yet both her work and family life slowly begin to consume her. The film captures the microscopic details of life and personal emotions through Fren’s perspective, but behind them loom the distorted structures and unjust customs of modern society. As fragments of life slowly accumulate into a mass of suffocating pressure, the tranquility of a woman who must endure everything on her own is washed away like water. In a society where human value is steadily diminishing, to carry new life and to dream of the future may be, in itself, a contradictory wish. (BOO Kyunghwan)
