Community BIFF
The Busan International Film Festival’s Community BIFF is an audience-driven, participatory, and experiential celebration of cinema. Since its launch in 2018, it has brought vibrant energy to Nampo-dong, the historic heart of the festival before the construction of the Busan Cinema Center, where citizens, audiences, directors and actors come together in a lively, inclusive atmosphere.
2025 Community BIFF unveils the keyword “Reminiscence”, inviting audiences on a journey through memories of healing, fulfillment, and new beginnings, and offering a platform to sense, imagine, and experiment through personal favorites spanning film, books, music, art, and more.

In ‘Request Cinema’, audiences take on the role of programmers by proposing titles and voting for the final selection of past festival screenings they wish to revisit. From a record-breaking 87 submissions and around 200 films, 13 films have been selected for screening through 5,268 public voting.
In line with its aim to create an inclusive festival where no one is left behind, Community BIFF has significantly expanded collaborations with universities, institutions and organizations. A special program ‘K'ARTS Showcase: A 30th Anniversary of School of Film, TV & Multimedia’ presents an omnibus film and representative works from 30 filmmakers in celebration of the school’s 30th anniversary. In addition, specialized curations on SF, New Media, Local, and Social provide in-depth discussions that examine today’s rapidly evolving content ecosystem while envisioning its future.

Outdoor Events
Opening with 'The Night Before BIFF', which marks the start of the 30th Busan International Film Festival and Community BIFF, the program features free outdoor screenings at Nampo-dong BIFF Square, citizen filmmaking workshops try their hand at directing or acting, and craft sessions for creating movie-themed items. These events are organized in collaboration with youth communities in Busan and will take place in Nampo-dong’s BIFF Square.
