The 30th BIFF Main Events Schedule: Carte Blanche, Special Talk, Actors’ House, Talk-to-Talk, Master Class,
and Cine Class!
The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has released the schedule for its main events, including Carte Blanche, Special Talks, Actors’ House, Talk-to-Talk, Master Classes, and Cine Classes. These programs will further enrich the festival experience for audiences by providing meaningful opportunities to engage with filmmakers.

Carte Blanche: The Icons’ Film Selection
This year’s new feature, Special Program in Focus: Carte Blanche, invites leading cultural figures to present films they cherish and engage in open conversations with the audience. Bong Joon-ho, Maggie Kang, Gang Dong-won, Eun Huigyeong, and Sohn Suk-hee will share personal memories and cinematic insights behind their selections, offering audiences a unique opportunity for connection.

Special Talk: Screenings with Expanded Conversations
Special Talks expand on the Guest Visit (GV) format, offering in-depth post-screening discussions with directors and actors about their creative processes and the significance of their works. Chung Jiyoung, Michael Mann, Sylvia Chang, Lee Chang-dong, Johnnie To, Jang Joonhwan, Lee Je-hoon, and Ryoo Seungwan will deliver inspiring reflections and memorable encounters for cinephiles.

Actors’ House: Exploring the Life and Career of Global Leading Talents
Actors’ House, one of BIFF’s signature programs, spotlights acclaimed actors as they candidly share their careers and philosophies on acting. This year’s lineup includes Lee Byung Hun, Son Yejin, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Kim Youjung, who will revisit their artistic journeys and offer rare insights into their craft.
Talk-to-Talk Scene Stealers: Steal the Spotlight
This year’s Talk-to-Talk brings together filmmakers and audiences for free-flowing conversations on a diverse range of topics. Sessions will feature Korea’s scene-stealing actors, production notes from emerging female directors, and discussions on global film festival exchanges, among other issues.
Master Class: Special Class of Masterful Auteurs
Master Class offers a rare chance to hear directly from world-renowned auteurs and actors about their lives and cinematic visions. With an expanded lineup this year, legendary figures such as Marco Bellocchio, Michael Mann, Sergei Loznitsa, Jafar Panahi, and Juliette Binoche will join to share their perspectives.
Cine Class: New Vision for Cinema and Society
Cine Class explores cinema within its broader social contexts, featuring directors, curators, and jurors who discuss the cultural meanings embedded in their works. Kogonada, Paul W.S. Anderson, Alexandre Koberidze, Giorgi Koberidze, and La Frances Hui will offer cinephiles rare opportunities for close engagement.
The 30th Busan International Film Festival will take place from September 17 (Wed) to September 26 (Fri) at the Busan Cinema Center and throughout Busan.
