The Kinder Programmer

[BIFF 2025] The Kinder Programmer - Karen PARK

Let your MBTI choose your film at BIFF

Blood types, horoscopes, physiognomy, the Four Pillars of Destiny — I never understood the fascination with such pseudoscience and wouldn’t even entertain it in small talk. But then one (fateful) day, a suspicious link claiming to be a personality type test landed in my inbox, and before I knew it, I was blurting out, “OMG, why is this so real?” It might be a stretch to categorize the diverse spectrum and tastes of the hundreds of thousands of audience attending BIFF into just 16 types. But when faced with the impossible task of choosing one out of hundreds of excellent films, maybe this little fun guide could be worth a glance? After all, as Barnum said, “We’ve got something for everyone” at Busan.

INFP Mediator

A warm and gentle soul will appreciate Leave the Cat Alone (Shigaya Daisuke), a film that reminisces fragmented memories from a disjointed past, and delicately pieces together fleeting moments of happiness.

ENFP Campaigner

For the wildly imaginative and endlessly creative, Bugonia is Yorgos Lanthimos’s take on Save the Green Planet! (2003), a visionary classic ahead of its time.

ESFJ Consul

Tailored for the social and popular, Jay Kelly (Noah Baumbach) reflects on what we’ve gained and lost, through the seemingly glamorous life of a Hollywood star.

ISFJ Defender

For those dedicated to their loved ones, Lucky Lu (Lloyd Lee Choi) unfolds a 48-hour journey of an immigrant clinging to hope, determined to rebuild the shattered American Dream.

ISFP Adventurer

To the ever-curious and open-hearted, KOKUHO (Lee Sang-il) offers a sweeping portrait of an artist’s half-century devotion to the world of Japan’s traditional kabuki, both in the spotlight and in its shadows.

ESFP Entertainer

For the spontaneous and enthusiastic, ALL GREENS (Koyama Takashi) captures the vibrant, rebellious spirit of youth — where dreams and anxieties collide in an energetic coming-of-age story.

INTP Logician

Thirsting for something new? Exit 8 (Kawamura Genki) is a clever mystery thriller that unravels the relentless cycle of failed escape attempts inside a confined space.

INFJ Advocate

Those guided by lofty morals and ideals will find Omaha (Cole Webley) deeply unsettling — a haunting film that features a weary father, a daughter burdened with too much knowledge, an innocent son, and a faithful dog, as they traverse the American continent.

ENFJ Protagonist

If you believe you can change world, Coexistence, My Ass! (Amber Fares) might make you think twice — a documentary that blends biting humor with harsh reality to expose the illusion of coexistence between Israel and Palestine.

ENTP Debater

For the smart, curious, and unafraid of intellectual challenge, A House of Dynamite (Kathryn Bigelow) delivers gripping intensity and a sense of helpless despair, brutally exposing the wars for hegemony in the revived Cold War battleground.

ESTJ Executive

For those talented at managing things or people, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (Kogonada) invites you on a fantastical adventure guided by a GPS system, weaving a meditation on our attitudes toward life.

ISTJ Logistician

Practical, no-nonsense individuals will find themselves unexpectedly moved by Bring Him Down to a Portable Size (Nakano Ryota), as Riko bids farewell to her good-for-nothing brother.

INTJ Architect

Strategic thinkers who have a plan for everything will be delighted by Weapons (Zach Cregger), a fresh horror movie that offers the thrill of piecing the puzzle together.

ISTP Virtuoso

For those who embrace intriguing challenges, The Chronology of Water is a poetic debut by Kristen Stewart, exploring raw emotions and bold sensations through an experimental lens.

ESTP Entrepreneur

For those who thrive living on the edge, The Lost Bus (Paul Greengrass) takes you on a roller-coaster ride as a school bus driver desperately fights to escape a raging wildfire.

ENTJ Commander

Imaginative and strong-willed leaders will be immersed in the haunting world of Frankenstein, a breathtaking and tragic masterpiece crafted by the master of monsters, Guillermo del Toro, brought to life in stunning detail on the IMAX screen.
