Forum BIFF

The Jiseok Film Institute will host Forum BIFF over four days, from Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, October 11, at the Busan Film & Audiovisual Industry Center.
Under the overarching theme of “Exploring the Possibilities of Contemporary Cinema”, this year’s forum examines where cinema stands — and how it is changing — amid rapidly shifting industrial, technological, and policy environments.
Organized around four thematic strands — Industry, AI & Creation, Institutions & Policy, and Region & Environment — the forum addresses key issues shaping contemporary cinema, including the crisis of mid-budget films and the rise of Asian animation, the relationship between generative AI and artists, filmmakers’ rights and public support for film festivals, as well as Busan’s film policy governance and green transition.
Spanning four sections and eight sessions, Forum BIFF brings these diverse agendas together in one place, creating a space for dialogue on where contemporary cinema stands and where it is headed.
