Young Lac sees terrifying ghosts. Her father encourages her not to simply fear and avoid them, but to treat them like friends and help them. But these ghosts carry harrowing stories and bitter grudges, and helping them proves far more than young Lac can bear. Now grown, she becomes the target of a brutal serial killer. Director Ham Tran built his reputation as a leading figure in Vietnamese genre cinema and caused a sensation with the Netflix series Devil′s Diner (2025). His new film Red Thread is an eerie and ambitious horror movie that asks whether fear can become a path to understanding others. Life and death are not as far apart as they seem, and so the living and the dead remain entangled by fate and karma. It’s so hard to admit our own mistakes. And yet we must keep trying to understand one another. (PARK Sungho)
