Audrey (Moon Choi), a second-generation Korean American, works as a physical therapist in New Jersey. Though her profession revolves around caring for others’ bodies, she is utterly clumsy, at times even harsh, when it comes to looking after herself. While dealing with the aftermath of her mother’s car accident, Audrey meets Eli (Son Sukku). The physical collision of the car crash brings together Audrey and Eli, two exhausted bodies precariously perched on the margins of life. The film follows these two people, each having endured the wounds and constraints of an immigrant family and an adoptive family. As they recognize the scars the other carries, they gradually form a connection. Sharing rides in Audrey’s cramped car, a space where others’ prejudices find no room to take root, the two discover the language and forms of care they had long lacked, becoming a sanctuary for each other. Can Audrey and Eli heal enough to let hope bloom where old wounds used to be? (MOON Juhwa)
