Filipina Nia, working in Taiwan, has carefully cultivated a boundary between her and her employers, keeping to herself—much to the displeasure of her boss. The resulting tension is the basis for this resonant, recognizable film about a day in Nia’s life. (KIM Young-woo)

Director

LAU Kek Huat

Born in Malaysia, he worked as a schoolteacher in Singapore before enrolling in the National Taiwan University to study film. He is the founder of Hummingbird Studio and is currently developing his first feature. His films include Lottery Tickets (2008), Queen (2008), Cul de sac Forest (2009), When It Rains (2011) and Absent without Leave (2014).
