Berlin, City of the Wall, 1982. Nele is 17, born and raised in West Berlin with the Wall. But it′s so normal for her she doesn′t even notice it. The only thing on the other side is gray emptiness until she crosses the "Iron Curtain" for her grandmother′s funeral and meets Captain. Because Captain is different, a short moment, a brief instant of eye contact- for Nele, it′s love at first sight. But their love seems to stand little chance in the divided city. Captain′s father can′t accept the girl from the west, his clique won′t trust her and Nele′s best friend is jealous. But their most dangerous adversary is the Stasi, the East German secret service. They′ve been keeping an eye on Captain and his band as possible enemies of the state. After a raid, Nele is cast out of East Germany. When she knows he′s been arrested, Nele tries to find a way to sneak back to East to save the love of her life.
