Program Note
The portrait of Pharaoh de Winter, a 30-something loner who is as humble as the earth he so profoundly appreciates. A simple man, but not a simpleton, Pharaoh is a small-town police lieutenant who must proceed through the motions of, what is for him, a stigmatizing investigation. Pharaoh′s suffering is a testament to his own uncontrollable empathy. He is an emotional sponge burdened with the capacity to ingest the tragedy of all our wrongdoing. Pharaoh′s work on a sordid investigation slowly divulges his despair and the dread of his own guilt.
