Program Note
This essay film resembles groups of visual language which describe the community, the culture and the family of the director’s childhood. The filmmaker created the film to look like the face of his nation and his family.
Director
Garin Nugroho
Born in Yogjakarta in 1961, he studied film at the Jakarta Institute of the Arts and has made 13 documentary films. His first feature film, <Love on s Slice of Bread>(1991), won him Best Young Director Award at the Asia Pacific Film Festival 1993 in Seoul. At present, he is teaching at IKJ and is active as a critic. <And Moon Dances> is his third feature film.
