Young mother Sandra is on a camping holiday in Brandenburg (Eastern Germany), south of Berlin, with her new boyfriend, Benni, and her six year old daughter, Jule. They run into Marco, solitary, enigmatic youth, who introduces himself in a half-friendly, half-provocative manner. After a few days (and a few fights), he is soon befriended by the family, virtually accepted as a new family member, even though his attitude to Jule strikes them as irresponsible. Taunting the couple about their lack of adventurousness, Marco coaxes them into an impromptu trip to the Polish Baltic Coast, where they start to ask questions about his background. For a while, the strange little family comes into being, in which each one finds exactly what they are looking for. Little by little, new desires begin to reveal themselves. Over the summer, the charismatic Marco drives a wedge between Sandra and Benni, as Sandra falls for the charms of 19 year old Marco. Benni feels betrayed and left alone. A confrontation becomes unavoidable...
