Program Note
The original Jam Films was a compilation of short films from Japan′s seven most popular directors. In Jam Films S, the sequel, each director becomes a producer and hand picks an up-and-coming director to helm the short film. Seven stories, ranging from a devil who grants a dying man three wishes to a relationship between a woman and a dry cleaner that centers around a blouse to a mystery of the sun that doesn′t rise, are compiled together for this best of the best in short films.

Kenji SONODA
Developed his talent by directing documentaries and music programs. In 2002 he entered the film world with his debut [Madness in Bloom] which starred Yousuke Kubozuka.

Yuichi ABE
After graduating from the department of Physics at Shizuoka University Abe studied film at the Japanese Academy of Moving Images. He was assistant director to Shinji Somai and Nobuhiko Obayashi. Currently he is the director of the full CG Anime [SD Gundam Force].

Daizaburo HARADA
Graduated at the postgraduate level from Tsukuba University’s Faculty of Fine Arts. In his graduation year he already received an award at the Japanese Modern Art Exhibition. The CG “Brain” that he created for an NHK television special. Currently he is working as an assistant professor at Tama Art University in Japan.

Masaki HAMAMOTO
After dropping out of Hiroshima University Hamamoto became a freelance assistant director. He worked with Yukihiko Tsutsumi Masahiro Shinoda as assistant director. His directorial debut was in the 2000 film [Ekiden].

Ryuichi TAKATSU
He studied film production in Australia. Takatsu is the scenario/production brain of Kitamura’s group and has been directing a number of “making of” extras as well as for writing scripts. He directed the promotional video for Paul Gilbert.

Hitoshi ISHIKAWA
Born in 1959, Ishikawa first laid his hands on independent film-making at Osaka University of Arts. He debuted in 1985 as director of “Pink-Eiga”. As soon as 1987 he collected a number of awards for [Chikan bus mo alright] at Zoom Up Film Festival.

Ryo TESHIMA
Currently an Art Director/Creative Director at Hakuhodo Inc. Campaigns he has worked on include television commercials. He has also been involved with the CD jacket design of a number of famous Japanese bands.
