Program Note
In the period of the American invasion of Iraq (American-Iraqi War), an Iraqi man crosses the reed-bed on he horders of Iran and Iraq in order to join up with his Iranian friends and attain a bridal dress for his bride. He must face many dangers in this quest: the Sadam Soldiers in the water and the American planes in the sky. But he perseveres in order to bring the dress safely back to his bride.

Elham HOSSEINZADEH
Elham Hosseinzadeh was born in 1970 in Ahvaz. Hosseinzadeh started her career as a journalist for major Iranian newspapers. She also conducted research on social issues as a professor of journalism at the University. She made several advertising films and collaborated with many directors in the making of documentaries and short films. [Silent Companion] is her first short film as a director.
