Program Note
This film deals with war, killer virusės, death, bad economies, unemployment and the all-around uncertainties that surround us these days. 576 emerged out of the frustrations from the filmmaker′s feeling
of helplessness in the face of these problems. It is a part protest, part futuristic-martial arts-fantasy film done in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Director
Joel Lamangan
He studied theatre in Southeast Asia and Germany， and film in Asia and Australia. He made his first full-length feature [Darna]in 1991. In 1995， his [Pangako ang Kahapon] won him Best Picture and Best Director Awards from the Young Critics Circle， the Star Awards and the Film Academy of the Philippines. [The Flor Contemplaction Story] is his 12th work.
