Program Note
Singaporean pop star X′Ho was invited by documentary filmmaker Zai Kuning to be involved in a film about Singapore′s tattoo culture. When X′Ho realized that the film - Living Digitally - would be screened
at Singapore′s primary performing arts center (the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay) he opted to tattoo is penis. The six minute sequence resulted in a demand by Singapore′s Censor Board that Even Dogs
Have Choices be edited before screening, or being banned completely. It was banned.
Director

Zai KUNING
Singapore native Zai Kuning trained formally at LaSalle College of the Arts of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has worked in various media, including ceramics, painting, sculpture and installation art, and his work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Japan, India, Australia and the United States. With the idea of mixing installation and film, his recent filmography includes [Riau](2000), [For Leo](2000), and [Birdy](2003).
