Program Note
Birthday Boy is a 3D animation short, set in 1951, during the Korean War. In a showcase of captivating and expert storytelling and filmmaking, the film shows little Manuk playing on the streets of his village and teeming of life on the war front where his father is a soldier. He retuns home to find a parcel on the doorstep and, thinking it is a birthday present, he opens it. The contents of that package will forever change his life.

Sejong PARK
Sejong Park is from South Korea. He graduated from the Australian Film Television and Radio School in 2004 with a Masters degree in Digital Media, having previously worked as a 2D animator and published illustrator. Birthday Boy is Park’s first 3D CGI film. He wanted to create an animated world which reflects all the character, warmth and emotion of real life. Park also provided visual effects and animation on several other student films.
