Program Note
The Wedding unfolds on the night of a wedding reception. Wojnar is throwing a party for his daughter Kate. His gift to the newlyweds is a new Audi. All the parts are in place: the car, the guests, the band. But events take one unlikely turn after another, and Wojnar wakes up in the morning a changed man. The major players are Wojnar, a farmer from the Carpathian foothills, his grandfather, his daughter Kate, her new husband Janusz, Father Adam, his brother-in-law, Wojnar′s friend Edmund, and a notary public. While the wedding rages, the negotiations for the Audi continue, and involve all of the major players. Some of the results are an unexpected death, a shooting, some begging, physical threats, a body hidden in a toilet, forgery, a robbery and two double crosses. Even Wojnar′s loyal dog gets in on the double cross act in the end. Characters and partnerships flip-flop by the end of the party and Wojnar and Janusz both lose their wives. Not even the Audi has escaped someone′s wrath by the next sunrise.
