32-year old Manon goes on a date with her co-worker. A couple of days later, she′s at a car wash when she sees a man with tattoo-covered arms. She rushes home, terrified and distraught, and tightly locks her door. Manon recalls a happy summer day at a cottage with her closest friends -Sophie, Anne, Claudie and Isa. And she remembers a man who gave her a ride while she was hitchhiking. Fifteen years have passed since that fateful day, and Manon has seen none of those friends. Now, with a budding romance and seemingly unable to move ahead with her life, she seeks their help in unburdening herself of her dark, painful past. She knows that only they can help her, and together, the five friends head back to the cottage to seek closure. Director Ghyslaine Côté asks thorny questions of how we give freedom to violent criminals, how that will affect the victims, and how we can avoid passing judgment. Above all, do victims every truly recover, and is the key to it as simple as friendship and affection?
