Program Note
Hong Meiyu is introduced to her husband by local fisherman. This documentary begins with Hong Meiyu leaving her ancestral home, Kinmen, a seashore village in China, for her marital home on a Taiwanese island. Although Kinmen is visible from the seashore at her new home, she has no way of returning to her hometown. Her deep homesickness and inability to adjust is heightened by a mere distance of only 2000 meters.
