Program Note
Having received a letter of dismissal, the railway track repairman puts his daily provision of bread and milk into his bag and goes to work on his last day. He thinks about committing suicide so that he can end his painful days and at least leave some compensation for his family. However, even committing suicide does not go as planned and he ends up eating the bread and milk as if nothing had happened. He had been working as a laborer for as long as he could remember and without knowing it, work had been the source of life energy for him. This film shows in a realistic way, a precarious but quietly persistent life of the man standing on the long and endless tracks. (Hong Hyo sook)
