Program Note
What makes Germany so distinctly German?Ten experts from ten different countries offer not only a stranger′s point of view, but also the expertise of their particular field. The Russian author Wladimir Kaminer offers his interpretation of German men by observing their interactions with Russian women at the famous "Russendisko", while the Indian interior designer Jehangir Mody searches for the very essence of "Gemutlichkeit", the German concept of cosiness and comfort. Meanwhile a Korean medical practitioner despairs over the narrowness of German cemeteries. From ten short but expertly constructed film pieces, amazing things about the Germans and their culture are revealed.
