A car crashes and we see the bodies of a family of five where the teenage daughter Carmela and her little sister Aneta are the only ones who survive. The story covers ten years in the lives of the two sisters. Carmela, who has been left with a disability, accepts her fate with a certain dignity. She aspires to be a dancer and goes from one unrequited love affair to another. In contrast, Aneta is always protected by her older sibling but also forced to grow up quickly. A series of unusual jobs and funny situations take place among unforgettable scenary. The two make it through several different cities and eventually settle in Buenos Aires, where Aneta falls in love with a man called Javier. Unexpectedly, Carmela disapproves of Javier and the relationship between the two sisters goes awry.
