In order to escape from the sufferings of war, grandma Young-ja married an American and left the country with high hopes of happiness. However, due to differences in culture and language barrier, she has not adjusted well to her new life overseas, and lives day by day in great difficulty alienated from everyone. Her sole consolation that she is alive is her red pepper farm. Young-ja talks about herself to the camera that has been with her for quite some time in a sort of monologue. From her face, hands and clothes, we find another part of ourselves living with frustration.
