Program Note

Living in a neigbourhood of immigrants, Azerbajanu young Nazar is obliged to divorce his wife, Reyhaneh, by his insiting relatives. The only thing he can do for his ex-wife is to pay her marriage portion by installments, but he faces his hard times for earning the required amount... The actor Faramarz Gharibian won Best Actor Prize and the 'Silver St. George' at this year's Moscow International Film Festival for his role as an estranged husband in this film.

Asghar FARHADI

Born in 1972, Asghar Fahadi is a theatre graduate of Tehran University (BA) and Tarbiat Modarres(MA). In the Isfahan branch of the Iranian Young Cinema Society, Farhadi made some 8mm and 16mm films. Subsequently, he has written plays and screenplays for IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting). He has also directed several TV series including “A Tale Of A City” and co-wrote the script of Ebrahim Hatamikia’s “Low Height”. “Dancing In The Dust” is Faradi’s debut feature.
