Hand Against the Sun is a cine-poem of daydreams and meditations. Through a wolflike cry,heterogeneous sound and fragmented, discontinuous movements, this video creates a conflicting montage. The fusion of images transcending time and space blesses us with startling images from time to time, yet its pedantic subject matter makes it difficult to get close to this effort. Nevertheless, the video suggests spectacular Creation-like scenes through its repeated images of a hand against the sun, slowly revealing the outlines of the subject. Such is the question regarding the origins of humans and the creation of the world, and this video freely crosses the boundaries of life and death by passing through the realm of images. It does so by harboring distorted sunlight and raising the mysterious image of a hand held inside it. (Lee Sang-Yong)
