Program Note
Although not related, Pig and Runt are born on the same day, in the same hospital, moments apart. They are almost telepathic. Now sixteen, they have created an insular, and dangerous world inventing their own rules and language. One night, Pig becomes angry when someone tries to kiss Runt at a disco. As they race away, Pig grabs Runt, pushes her up against a wall and kisses her forcefully. A shadowy concern begins to form in her mind, slowly puncturing their world. Adults are worried about the increasingly isolated and secret relationship between Pig and Runt. Runt′s parents decide to send her to a special institution. Pig is devastated and his world collapses into a violent spiral of helplessness. He sets out to rescue Runt. But Runt has a distant cloud over her, which throws Pig into increased insecurity; his love for Runt becomes a dangerous obsession. The inseparable are about to separate; and which one will survive depends on which one can break free.
