Program Note
What might happen to a man born in Latin America, part Hungarian, part Catholic, part Jewish and has been groomed to be a Communist since he was a toddler? As a child he is obliged to wander from the nation of Che Guevara and Salvador Allende to the "living socialist" state of Hungary. The result is a revolution sans frontier. What happens to him when the world has shed the ideology of Communism overnight? Are there any ideas that he can cling to in this distinctly non-ideological new world? What will happen to those who have been cheated by history? Our hero rushes across half the world again and this time arriving Croatia during a war. In this film imaginary events and persons are mixed with real ones.
