Hareesh and Reshimi are a married couple who have moved from a city in Kerala to Delhi. Working at a factory that produces medical gloves, they are preparing to move abroad. One day, to apply for a work visa, Hareesh records Reshimi working, but the video gets manipulated and circulated, and the couple gets caught up in an unexpected incident. Life is hard for the poor couple who have to relocate constantly for better life. Yet the absence of material comforts is not the only thing that plagues them. With a solid narrative and a dispassionate camera, Declaration exposes the multiple layers of absurdity and contradictions that Hareesh and Reshmi come to face. And the different last choices they make in the process are particularly significant from the gender perspective. (PARK Sun Young)
