As implied by the title, Rule 34 is certainly not for the faint of heart and to call it “controversial” might be too tame and too lame. From the opening pornographic scenes, the film is raw, shocking and uncomfortable to a tee. Our bold protagonist throws morally, ethically, socially intolerable punches at us non-stop, you won’t have time to flinch let alone be judgmental. Simone’s odyssey of pushing – no, demolishing – the boundaries is compelling and exciting to watch. The brilliant performance of Sol Miranda shines like a beacon and the end scene where her fascinating face fills up the screen is truly a wonder to behold. (Karen PARK)
