In a remote train station, far from the worries and irritations of urban life, Mak operates the lone taxi service. Eight months ago, called to fight for his country, he was immediately wounded and spent the rest of the war recuperating in a hospital. The trauma of such an event would destroy even the most hardened man, but working in the peaceful countryside gives Mak both the time and space needed to regain his sanity. Life is bound to take a turn for the better, and when he meets the beautiful and engaging Snezana, he has a feeling it might. Snezana, excited, hopeful, full of exuberance for the first time in years, is heading for a remote village where she has been assigned her first teaching job. The hope they share for the future draws the pair together, but their happiness is short-lived.
