Program Note
Alessa Woo is a glamour girl living beyond her means. Hounded by suitors she deems "fiscally unsound" Alessa poses as a rich Asian heiress to marry her millionaire. A struggling artist named Ben moves in next door. They share an adjoining bathroom and an immediate, undeniable chemistry. She′s finally met her match. When her sister arrives with news of their ailing father and implores her to return home, Alessa is forced to choose between her dreams and real life. A surprise visit from Ben′s stepmother and his journey home show that his past is not as simple as he claims. Ben′s brother Patrick falls for Alessa, fuelling sibling rivalry. Alessa rebuffs her "friend" -Ben, and Ben risks his happiness to preserve his sense of integrity. Alessa accepts Patrick′s romantic advances- this is, after all, all that′s she′s wanted-but at a cost. By pursing what she thinks she wants, she loses sight of herself.
