Frant Tandara, a former torturer in the prisons of Communist Romania, agrees to confess his crimes to a journalist and a former political prisoner. He nervously awaits his visitors′s arrival at a train station. They drive to the farm where Tandara lives with his wife. From the start the confession there is plagued with problems: the tape recorder jams, Tandara speaks too fast or too slowly, or his story sounds contrived. While evoking his shady past, Tandara is never clear. The torturer does everything he can to cover up parts of his confession. Fearing that the interview may end fruitlessly, the journalist presses Tandara about his time as a torturer in psychiatric hospitals. But she cannot get anything out of him. Tandara′s wife intervenes and asks them to go easy on her husband, to stop torturing him. Besides, it′s getting late, and they have to catch their train.
