After the TV animation series of the same title gained popularity, Tokyo Revengers was turned into a live-action film, which was released in Japan in July and became a hit. The protagonist is Takemichi, a young man who leads a hopeless life. One day, he learns that his high school girlfriend has died. While standing absently on the subway platform, he falls off and gets hit by a train. A time leap occurs at that moment, and Takemichi finds himself back in high school. His mission is to save his girlfriend. Learning that the gang that ruled the school later kills his girlfriend, Takemichi works up the courage to face them. Starring pretty boys and girls who seem to have jumped out of animation, the film is a perfect harmony of time travel, entertaining school life drama, and heroic fantasy. (NAM Dong-chul)
