"Odoriko" refers to Japanese female dancers who mainly perform striptease shows. They are the creators who choreograph their dances, choose their own costumes, and plan their shows, but with the changing times, their stage is gradually decreasing. The film Odoriko looks at these women’s slightly special but ordinary daily lives with a calm gaze, while recording the memories of a profession that is slowly disappearing. Due to the peculiarity of the subject matter, we carefully ask ourselves whether we are snooping on other peoples’ unique lives for our own entertainment through this film; as if pondering on the same question, Okutani Yoichiro’s camera carefully adjusts its angle and distance from the women. In this film, the desolate scenery of empty waiting rooms leave a stronger impression than the odoriko′s spectacular appearance on stage. (KIM Bo-nyun)
