When ex-con Kermek returns home, he instinctively realizes that everything has changed and a mob that commits brutal crimes is running his hometown. Mob pressure drags Kermek into crime. His dream is to leave the town with his beloved Eva and build a movie theater. Just like Kermek, all of the protagonists of Adilkhan Yerzhanov’s films try to build something or leave in search of freedom. In what feels like a Kazakh version of Bonnie and Clyde, the two lead characters wander as they try to build a home-like theater.
