Program Note
Two white police officers are patrolling a neighborhood where the Arabs live. Amid heightened tensions in the area, after a suspect is placed in critical condition due to excessive police force, the police officers interogate on an Arab boy for no particular reason. Residents of the neighborhood witness the scene and armed demonstrators attack the police car. The police officers and the boy barely escape, but the police headquarters say they can’t send back up due to coinciding protests in many towns. Can they escape successfully? The story is about the police officers who escape from the jaws of death, but the unique point of this film is that the audience cannot fully cheer for their escape. The police officers don’t hesitate to act with malice and racism, deep down we expect them to be punished properly. (NAM Dong-chul)
