Mickey Lai is an emerging writer-director in Malaysia. In 2020, she graduated with a Master of Arts in Film and TV Production at Met Film School, London, UK. She has been actively involved in the local film and TV industry as a director, assistant director, and editor. Coming from a multi-cultural background, she found her interest in exploring the diverse cultural values, the theme of humanity and self-identity, by using the framework of family. The Cloud Is Still There (2020) is her debut, semi-autobiographical short film.
