Program Note
The relationship between photography and film has been the subject of my work on more than one occasion. It is a theme of Film-maker′s Holiday. In Face of Value (dedicated to the photographer Ed van der Elsken) and Amsterdam Global Village there are several photo sessions. In To Sang Fotostudio, photography is the main motif. Portraits: how people are posed and pose themselves - into roles, types and familiar characters. How a dream image always slides in front of reality (however rapid photography may be, it can never catch up with reality). -- Johan van der Keuken
