Alain, who runs a publishing company, refuses to publish Leonardo’s new novel because it deals repeatedly too much with his personal relationship and break-up. Alain is skeptical of any creation limited to the author′s personal experience. The reality of the digitalized publishing industry is also challenging for Alain. His acquaintances, digital experts, company owners and even his wife are positive about Leonardo′s book. In fact, Leonardo and Alain’s wife Selina have been lovers for years. He has to make a choice. The director, who seems to be able to carry forward an intelligent and in-depth dialogue throughout the day, captures philosophical discourse on various topics - digitization, followed by popular tastes, cultural democracy, politics, and life. The conversation continues throughout, and the witty one-liners guide us through the story without getting bored. The camera′ over the shoulder angles give us the illusion that we are listening in on them. The deep, inward performances of Juliette Binoche and Guillaume Canet multiply the pleasure of watching the film. (Erica Nam)
