Single, middle-aged woman Mithi yearns to take charge of her life, but finds it difficult. One day, she finds meaning in life after hearing a man’s voice who seems to understand her at the train station. She starts adoring the voice in her daily journal and relying on it. Although she suspects it might be an illusion, it becomes a specific part of her routine as well as a strong support system. When the voice becomes a reality, she starts searching for its owner whom she sees on the other side of the train station. The man disappears, leaving Mithi in despair as she realizes the voice was just a creation of her own loneliness. Whether he existed or not is not important to her because while this daily fantasy may have driven the stubborn and lonely Mithi to lose her sense of reality, at least it gave her a moment of happiness. It’s ironic that relationships cannot be self-created and exist nonetheless, but perhaps there’ll be someone at Mithi’s side when she realizes her best friend is herself. (Jung Jin-a)
