Young Ilalang and Bulan try to unveil their essential nature. Their search is developed around Waluyo, a master of classical Javanese arts. Bulan tries to establish her identity through devotion to Waluyo. Ilalang′s search for himself comes in the form of a dream to become a composer. Waluyo′s death brings them both sorrow and enlightenment. Bulan remains in Waluyo′s house and finds her identity as a simple，modest Javanese woman. Ilalang, on the other hand, leaves, but the decision is very hard.
