Program Note

In a nameless Chinese city, a mother whose daughter is missing refuses to go gentle into this good night. Following the mother’s desperate search for her missing daughter, this short impressively captures her fears and emotions. The winner of the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Competition.

QIU Yang

Changzhou, China native Qiu Yang was a film student at Australia’s Victorian College of the Arts, and was selected for Taipei’s Golden Horse Film Academy, where he was mentored by Hou Hsiao-Hsien. Yang is currently developing his first feature, and his fillmography includes the Cannes Cinéfondation competition short Under the Sun (2015).
