Program Note
Who can foresee the moment of death? Death breaks the surface of reality and what is left for the living is the process of giving social meaning to the sudden end of life. We see the steps of the funeral ceremony, from the hands that cleanse and handle the body, to the family gathering at the funeral, and the final moment of cremation. The experimental style of this film and the intimate presence of the camera (the collective consciousness) compels the audience to contemplate the myriad meanings of death. (Kwon Yong-Min)
