Program Note
A woman living with her paralyzed mother takes on part-time jobs to get by. At times she works as a dancer promoting new businesses and at others as a decorator prepping wedding hall venues. Resentful of her father and unhappy with her life, she is secretly suffering. Meanwhile, a policeman who witnessed his mother’s death as a child and still blames himself for her death has recently broken up with his girlfriend. During a crackdown on drunk driving, he lets off an inebriated driver without charge after the man begs him to turn a blind eye. But this leniency backfires; the drunk driver causes an accident and ends up shifting the blame for it onto the police. After meeting on an Internet forum, the woman and the policeman, seemingly without hope, make plans to commit suicide together. However, on the way to the place where they’ve decided to fulfill their pact, their paths fail to cross. Another Way is the new film to appear from Cho Chang-ho, director of The Peter Pan Formula (2005), in some time. (NAM Dong-chul)
