Jovan gets back to normal college life after two years of having fun and groundless relationships. He meets Maja by chance in a club and they start dating. Jovan suggests keeping the relationship casual to the innocent looking Maja, but greater interest in her is aroused after finding some mysterious traces of Maja on social media. As his curiosity grows, Maja’s secret seems to grow bigger and Jovan’s curiosity turns into an obsession. Panama, the feature debut of Pavle Vučković, who won Cinefondation Award at Cannes for his short film Run Rabbit Run, is like a report about today’s relationships. The film examines the various emotions and psychologies form relationships through a microscope, looking at how these crushes and loves, desire and sex, obsession and jealousy are composed in the world of young people today. At the end of the examination, its object is none other than self. Panama was premiered at Cannes 2015 as special screening. (Jin PARK)
