Program Note
]Inventing Happy Days profiles two immigrant women?one Russian and one Chinese?living in Paris doing odd jobs. Their dreams are dashed by reality, and the film focuses on their lack of hope. For those who struggle everyday to get by, dreams are a process for making something invisible, like manipulated photos that might bring happiness to others. (KIM Serene)
