Director Rainier and producer Bingbong are young guys who want to make an independent film to surprise the world with their global success. An invitation to an international film festival goes right to a colleague’s head, much to Rainier and Bingbong’s chagrin. But the only way to knock their haughty mate of his arrogant perch is to win a bigger prize. So they decide to make a film about poverty, a common subject in the Philippines. Their tragedy about a mother forced to sell her son to a pedophile can’t find its footing. The duo is lucky to cast Eugene Domingo, one of the Philippines’ most famous actresses, but dealing with the narcissistic actress is tough. However the most hopeless moment comes when the budding auteurs interact with the slum dwellers. Rainier and Bingbong want to express their lives in the film but they are hostile toward the artists.
