Banafsheh is behind bars. When she hears Nasser?the father of her unborn baby?has illegally crossed the border out of the country, she decides a trip out of the country on a temporary three-day release in order for her, too. Hanieh and Homa are also convicts and friends, and they join the journey. Because of Iran’s repressive treatment of women, the journey is uncomfortable for the three women, who, lacking identification, cannot even check into the shabbiest of hotels. Under these pitiable conditions, the friendship is stressed, but eventually they acquire the power to continue their journey with laughter and open communication with each other. Banafsheh manages to find Nasser, but the reunion is disappointing and leaves her with no choices. Director Naghi Nemati is well known on the international festival circuit for his short films and the first feature [Those Three](2007). In this second feature film, [Three and a Half], he once again portrays people who take rushed and rash measures in strange and harsh environments because of other people. (PARK Sungho)
