Program Note
Rek and Kong start sneaking into empty homes and vicariously experiencing the homeowner’s lives. They are not stealing anything; they’re simply borrowing the homeowners’ homes, possessions and lives. Then one day, they come face to face with a home’s actual owner. Later, Rek is baffled to wake up in the hospital. Even more baffling is that everyone in the hospital refers to him as Kong, while the real Kong is nowhere to be seen. After being discharged from the hospital, Rek sneaks in to Kong’s house looking for him. After repeating the process of absorbing traces of others’ emotions and memories so many times, Rek and Kong find what they saw and talked about beginning to intermingle with their own realities. P-047 ’s director Kongdej Jaturanrasmee is a Thai professor of film as well as a scenario writer. In his fourth feature film he leads us into a new world of film that moves back and forth between reality and fiction. (KIM Byeongcheol)
